An Unexpected Reminder…

An unexpected reminder…

Leadership doesn’t have to wear a title or even a pair of work clothes -  sometimes it just offers a hand.

This past weekend we were at Land of Natura in Wisconsin Dells and what struck me wasn’t just the fun with family or the entertaining scenery - it was the people.

People from different ages, backgrounds, cultures, languages and countries.

I made a fool out of myself plenty! I fell into the water, onto the inflatable obstacles and got disoriented a couple times, not knowing where I was going.

I saw the same instinct from people numerous times:

  • Helping me (and others) up out of the water

  • Pointing me in the right direction

  • Offering to help without hesitation

No ego. No pausing. Just quiet compassion and support for someone in need. And I was definitely in need a few times!

It reminded me that leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice, the biggest personality or the oldest - it’s about being present, kind and most importantly, authentically willing to serve and help others.

In a world that often can feel divided, these small moments are impactful. They’re reminders that empathy transcends words or age, and that real leadership starts with thinking of others..

Leadership is about lifting others up - whether that be out of the water or in life.
