Growth Through Discomfort
Last week I had the privilege of leading three different events - each one meaningful in its own way.
One hit in a unique way though: stepping out in front of folks in my hometown.
It just felt different… Preparing for that event carried a weight I didn’t expect. It meant familiar faces in the room, existing relationships and a deep desire to give back to the community that helped me.
It wasn’t just about delivering an impactful message - it was about honoring the people and place that helped play a role in shaping me into who I am.
I left reminded of this truth:
Sometimes the hardest places to lead, speak or serve are the ones closest to home… But they can also be the most rewarding.
Or…
Sometimes the uncomfortable situations, are the biggest opportunities for growth.
Grateful for the chance to pour into others and especially to invest right where my journey began.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned from going “back home” to serve or lead?
