Culture & Trust. Buzz words we hear on a daily basis in reference to high performance sports or work teams.
But what exactly is culture and how do we build it?
Culture is a set of standards - values, beliefs and behaviors that shape the way we collectively collaborate, communicate or respond to challenges / successes. Culture is a vibe. Culture has a way of influencing our thoughts, emotions and responses within a group. Creating a sense of fulfillment as we pursue a goal together.
So, as a leader, how do we foster a compelling culture and mutual trust allowing the team to thrive?
-Transparency - information, intention and decisions shared openly and honestly to create clarity and understanding
-Empathy - ability to genuinely understand and share a person’s feelings, perspectives and experiences.
-Consistency - showing up day after day, through the ups and the downs. People know what to expect in all kinds of situations.

As a leader (with or without direct authority) you can set the tone. Each day writing a blueprint for what you want and expect your culture to be.
